About Duncan

Christian Counsellor · Psychotherapist · NHS Mental Health Chaplain

Hello. My name is Duncan. I am a Christian counsellor and lay minister with experience in NHS chaplaincy, education and community pastoral work. I offer confidential, faith-aware counselling for individuals and couples, integrating recognised counselling practice with Christian pastoral care. I hold a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies and an Advanced Diploma in in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My aim is to provide a safe space for people to explore emotional, relational and faith-related concerns with compassion and respect.

I am a Christian counsellor and experienced lay minister with over twenty years of pastoral service across chaplaincy, education and community settings. I have served as a Mental Health Chaplain within the NHS, and previously as a Chaplain and teacher in an education,al setting.  These are experiences that have shaped my compassionate, steady and thoughtful approach to care.

My work integrates Christian faith, psychological insight and recognised counselling practice with Christian pastoral care, drawing from:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Person-Centred approach

thus offering a safe and reflective space where individuals can explore emotional struggles, questions of faith, and life’s wider challenges.

I hold:

  • a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies,
  • a PGCE in Religious Education,
  • and a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice.

At the heart of my work is the belief that every person is created with dignity, worth, and value.

Blackburn is a town with a strong sense of history, faith, industry and community. Set within Lancashire and close to the hills of the West Pennine Moors, it carries both the marks of its industrial past and the resilience of a changing modern town. For many people living in Blackburn, Darwen and the surrounding areas, life can involve a mixture of family responsibility, work pressure, cultural expectation, financial stress, relationship strain and private emotional struggles.

Online Christian counselling offers a confidential space to reflect on these pressures without needing to travel across town or fit appointments around busy routes, work patterns or family commitments. Whether you live near the town centre, Mill Hill, Cherry Tree, Brownhill, Ewood, Livesey, Little Harwood, Audley, Pleckgate, Shadsworth, or further out towards Darwen and the Ribble Valley, secure video counselling allows you to access support from home.

Blackburn’s story is closely connected with textile manufacturing, civic life and Christian worship. Blackburn Cathedral stands on a site associated with Christian worship for many centuries, and the cathedral describes itself as one of England’s newest cathedrals while also being one of the country’s oldest places of Christian worship. This gives the town a particular spiritual resonance: a place where old forms of faith, endurance and community life continue to meet the pressures of the present.

For some people, counselling is needed because outward life looks functional while inwardly they feel overwhelmed, anxious, low, disconnected or spiritually dry. Others seek support because relationships have become strained, grief has become difficult to carry, trauma continues to affect daily life, or faith itself has become tangled with guilt, fear, disappointment or confusion.

My online Christian counselling service for Blackburn offers a reflective, compassionate and professional space where emotional, relational and spiritual concerns can be explored together.

If you are searching for Christian counselling in Blackburn, you may be looking for support that takes both your emotional life and your Christian faith seriously. I work online with individuals and couples across Blackburn, Darwen and Lancashire, offering counselling for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, marriage issues, stress, low self-esteem and questions of faith. This online Christian counselling service allows you to receive professional and compassionate support from your own home while exploring the deeper emotional and spiritual patterns that may be affecting your life.

Many people experiencing anxiety or depression benefit from counselling support, as recognised by organisations such as the NHS and Mind.
