About Duncan

Christian Counsellor · Psychotherapist · NHS Mental Health Chaplain

Hello. My name is Duncan. I am a Christian counsellor and lay minister with experience in NHS chaplaincy, education and community pastoral work. I offer confidential, faith-aware counselling for individuals and couples, integrating recognised counselling practice with Christian pastoral care. I hold a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies and an Advanced Diploma in in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My aim is to provide a safe space for people to explore emotional, relational and faith-related concerns with compassion and respect.

I am a Christian counsellor and experienced lay minister with over twenty years of pastoral service across chaplaincy, education and community settings. I have served as a Mental Health Chaplain within the NHS, and previously as a Chaplain and teacher in education, experiences that have shaped my compassionate, steady and thoughtful approach to care.

My work integrates Christian faith, psychological insight and recognised counselling practice with Christian pastoral care, drawing from:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Person-Centred approach

thus offering a safe and reflective space where individuals can explore emotional struggles, questions of faith, and life’s wider challenges.

I hold:

  • a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies,
  • a PGCE in Religious Education,
  • and a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice.

At the heart of my work is the belief that every person is created with dignity, worth, and value.
