Anxiety can manifest as chronic worry, performance pressure, spiritual scrupulosity or high-functioning overachievement. Faith does not immunise the nervous system against stress. In this section, we explore the psychological mechanisms behind anxiety, the role of attachment history, and how Christian counselling integrates evidence-based approaches with spiritual maturity.

I offer online Christian counselling to adults in all locations, all cities, all across the UK. My approach brings together person-centred counselling and integrative psychotherapy, with space to include Christian faith where this is important to you.
Many of my clients are looking for a safe, confidential place to talk things through with someone who takes their whole life seriously – including faith, doubts and questions. You don’t have to be a Christian to work with me, but if you are, we can explore how your relationship with God, church and spirituality connect with what you’re going through.
Because sessions are held online, I’m able to work with clients all around the UK and beyond. This can be especially helpful if you prefer Christian counselling but there may not be anyone local who feels like a good fit.
Christian counselling is not about simplistic reassurance or spiritual platitudes. It is about integrating theological understanding with clinically grounded therapeutic practice. Emotional distress does not disappear through belief alone. Anxiety, depression, relational strain, leadership pressure and unresolved trauma affect committed Christians just as they affect anyone else. Faith shapes how we interpret suffering, but it does not remove the human nervous system, attachment patterns or psychological history.
Many Christians carry silent burdens. Some struggle with persistent anxiety masked by outward composure. Others battle depressive symptoms while feeling guilt for “not trusting God enough.” Marriage difficulties can feel spiritually threatening. Leaders and executives may appear confident yet experience isolation, burnout or moral fatigue behind the scenes.
